40 Under 40

In February I was fortunate enough to receive a coveted “40 under 40” award given by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. This was such a great honor as I was up against some steep competition! Over 100 young professionals submitted their entries and only 40 were chosen.

I read each recipient biography that was printed in the February 18 edition of the paper and suddenly felt like quite an underachiever. The “40 under 40” represented just about every industry from a dessert company to a mortgage company. There were even a few business owners who had taken their business from no revenue to over one million dollars in revenue. It always amazes me how if you really put your mind to something you can achieve anything.

I know that so many of you are small business owners or women working hard towards your dream job. I would love to inspire you all to take a few minutes every month and search out these types of awards. There are so many that are given out to women business owners and women “superstars”. There is no better way to build your business than getting exposure amongst your peers.

This award has lead to several business relationships and new opportunities for me. All it took was an hour of my time to compose a compelling entry. So get busy, get some exposure, and let us all know about it!
